Last month I went to Austin and found some Art Gallery Knit Fabrics at The Cloth Pocket. I have been really wanting to sew with some because I have heard that they are so much softer than other knits, and it is so true! They are such higher quality and great to work with. I decided to made some summer tees for my boys and used Bonnie Christine’s Seed Packet knit from her Art Gallery Cultivate line. It was just screaming to be turned into a pocket!
I just grabbed t shirts in their current sizes out of their drawers and flipped them inside out. Folded each shirt in half, laid it on top of a piece of fabric also folded in half, and used that as my pattern. I did the same for the sleeves, and free handed the pocket. For the seams I did a zig zag stitch so it would stretch well with putting in on and off and I just used a thin strip pulled slightly as I sewed it on for the neck line and arms of the baby’s shirt since his is sleeveless. The boys loved them and didn’t want to take them off because the fabric was so soft.
